A Sports Park for all Seasons
World-class Cross Country Skiing in the Winter season
Exhilarating Mountain Bike Trails in the Summer
Designed and developed for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, the Canmore Nordic
Centre offers you exhilarating cross-country outings on over 60 kilometres of
world-class cross-country and biathlon trail systems.
Just minutes away from downtown Canmore, the Canmore
Nordic Centre has been undergoing a renovation transformation and will re-open
after a year of construction this December 2005 in time for the Canmore
Centennial World Cup.
In recent years the Canmore Nordic Centre has become
home to events such as 24 hours of Adrenaline, many regional regional,
national, and international sporting and ski events as well as the Alberta
International Sled Dog Classic.
Winter - World Class Cross Country Skiing
The trail system offers you a wide variety of
cross-country ski outings. You can ski along a quiet forest trail or challenge
yourself on one of the many cross-country or biathlon trails used by
world-class competitors. Trails are groomed and trackset to accommodate both
classic and skating techniques on the same trail. A 6.5 km track is
illuminated for night skiing.
Please note that portions of the trail system and
stadium area may be closed to public skiing during events. Please obey notices
and trail closure signs.
Summer - Exceptional Mountain Biking
Canmore is well-known for having one of the top
mountain biking centres in North America - the Canmore Nordic Centre. With
over 60 km of trails the Nordic Centre offers both single and double track
trails for beginners and experts alike. The cross country ski trails offer a
more challenging experience on rolling terrain, while those wishing to
experience the highest level of mountain biking can ride the competition,
single track trails.
